Mr Simon White
Profile
I qualified from University of Bristol in 1996, and completed my early surgical training in Bristol, Plymouth, Cardiff and Swansea. I trained on the highly regarded Bristol Orthopaedic rotation working with leading academic figures and joint replacement surgeons before completing a lower limb arthroplasty fellowship in Cardiff.
I am a high volume hip and knee replacement surgeon. I regularly perform bone and ligament sparing partial replacements and oxinium replacements. I introduced the personalised bespoke Signature knee replacement to Cardiff in 2010 and the initial results have been outstanding.
I perform keyhole (arthroscopic) surgery for cartilage tears and early arthritis change in the knee. I have a keen interest in advanced technology surgery and techniques designed to increase the lifespan of replacements in younger patients. I have an interest in rapid recovery surgery where appropriate.
I am a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, British Hip Society and British Association for Surgery of the Knee. I am a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.
My research publications includes work on resurfacing hip replacements, uncemented hip replacements, knee replacement surgery and operative planning.
I regularly teach medical students, training orthopaedic surgeons, nurses and physiotherapists. I am a lecturer for the University of Wales.
